The case for your manager
AGS Rome 2026 Welcome Kit for media buyers · two paragraphs, pre-filled · in a manager's terms
"My boss would laugh me out of his office if I sent him one of these," a buyer said about the convince-your-boss templates other events hand out. Fair. So this isn't one. It's the two paragraphs a manager needs to say yes without a meeting, written the way a manager reads: what you'll bring back, who you'll meet, what it costs, when, and what you'll do afterwards. Plain text is filled in from the confirmed list and current prices. [Brackets] are yours. Send it as an email.
Subject: Affiliate Grand Slam Rome, 2 to 5 November: request to attend
Hi [name],
I'd like to attend Affiliate Grand Slam in Rome, 2 to 5 November, at Fiera Roma. It's a performance-marketing event where the commercial side of what I run is in one hall: TikTok, Meta and Google exhibiting with staff on the floor (two of TikTok's people are on stage), the direct advertisers and networks behind the offers we run traffic to, the trackers and attribution vendors, and buyers from other brands and models. I've picked three conversations to request through the event's meeting app once I hold a pass: [platform person] about [the specific question our rep hasn't answered], [offer owner or network] about [why the payout or conversion is what it is in our geo], and [a buyer or operator in a different model] about [how they structure the test we've been debating]. What I'd bring back is a focused platform question answered by a person rather than a ticket, test ideas from other buyers, and the commercial side of the offers we run, which is the context I need for [Q1 planning / the account review / the wider remit].
The cost is the pass at €375 (Standard; €525 at the door), plus flights [€ ], hotel for [n] nights [€ ] and meals [€ ], total [€ ]. I'd be out [dates]; [who] covers the accounts with [alerts / rules / two daily check-ins] in place, and the holiday campaigns will be built and scheduled before I go. Within a week of getting back I'll share a short write-up with the team: the three conversations, what each changes about how we run the account, and one test I'd run next.
Thanks, [name]
Notes for you (delete before sending)
- Paragraph one is the names. Fill the three from the roster page. Specific beats impressive: the network you actually run with, the platform you spend most on, a buyer type you can describe. The manager is checking that you know why you're going, not that the names are famous.
- Paragraph two is the number and the coverage. Real travel figures. Who covers. The share-back line at the end is the line that gets it approved; it makes the trip accountable, and managers approve accountable things.
- What's deliberately not in it. "Networking." Attendee counts. The lounge. Anything about your career. If they trust you to spend their money this month, the argument is the three names and the write-up, and that's enough.
- If the answer is "not this year." The next page is for paying your own way. Or ask for the pass only and cover the travel yourself; a €375 line is easier to approve than a four-figure one, and it's a foot in the door for next year.
- If you want Premium or Platinum. One sentence in paragraph two saying which and why (the higher Match App level if you need more requests; the awards night if the networks you want are there). Don't ask for it unless you can name what it gets you.
We update this kit from time to time as confirmations, prices and event details change. This page is current as of 12 September 2026.
